This is part of the kitchen after we got up the tumbled brick back splash and part of the granite. This has been a much larger project than we expected-but we are so so glad we did it! The cabinets look yellowish, which is what they really are...so our last but not least project when everything else is done (and if we get to it) is to refinish the cabinets. It's a long process of much sanding and the kitchen torn up again, but *if* we get time, it will be nice. We picked out a darker stain, one that would go nicely with the granite and new flooring.

Just another view. As you can see the kitchen island was at the time, not completed. Yesterday the rest of the granite went on and this morning we are grouting. Wait, I AM GROUTING! Dan said that he loathed grouting so he let me do it...lol. Once the grouting is done, we will be rounding off the edges and making them shine with a buffer. While I am a huge fan of solid granite counters, for a reasonable price tiles look really nice!

This guy is amazing! You give him a job and he gives it his all at 100% quality workmanship. It's been really fun working side by side, laughing and sneaking in kisses when he's working hard! I'm grateful for a husband who knows how to do just about anything (except, scrapbook). After all this work, we've decided that our next house will be just the way we want it.

I love watching him work. His hands are gentle, yet rough. He gets deep in thought and doesn't always pay attention to what I'm saying, but at the end of the day those hands go from working hands to loving hands. He rarely wears his wedding band to do any type of work (a navy thing) so when I shot this it was merely for the purpose of his hands, but then Jess noticed his ring, and said "oh how sweet Mom".
stay tuned....

It's amazing that he can do all that! When we re-did the counters, cabinets looked like slack. want to paint the green.
