rexburg

Playing catch up on all the photos from our trip in January. Just thought I'd post for anyone who wanted to see. The University is located in Rexburg Idaho, formally known as 'Rick's College'. With the growing need of young students desiring to attend college, they decided to turn this into a 4 year University. The campus is much larger than I expected, and the growth continues as they are building new structures to accomodate new studies. There isn't much to see or do in Rexburg, really that's a fact! The first few weeks for Jessica was learning to adapt to a new environment that didn't include the luxuries we have here. She walks everywhere-except when it's necessary to be in a car. Everything she needs is at her fingertips, well, except for a library full of good reading materials! The library on campus is mostly for class materials, computers and studying. When you want to read a good book, mom mails a box from Barnes & Nobles.

This is the new Rexburg Temple, which was just dedicated a few weeks ago. It's amazing! Just stunning sitting on top of this hill, you can't miss it. Located just one block from the campus, straight across the street. Jessica has a perfect view from her bedroom window.

Idaho Falls Temple

Dan and I took photos exactly like this 20 years ago when we lived there. It's so beautiful this time of year. This is a waterfall in downtown Idaho Falls where the snake river flows. There is a wonderful park with trees and benches. The city built a bathroom not too far from where we are standing...you ask, what's the big deal? It's HEATED!! I mean when you gotta go you go, but to be warmed while you go is funny. This waterfront area hadn't really changed-that was nice to see. During the spring we would hang out down here feeding the ducks & canadian geese bread. We always admired this temple. We must have a gazillion pictures, and we have no idea why we took them 20 years ago. But I'm glad we do. Helps us appreciate it a lot more.
