**EDITED** sunday morning quakes=3.1 + 3.5...today was 2 something**
seems like every year when spring arrives with the warmer weather we get a little shook up around here! Sunday morning (that is around 2:22am) being the lightest sleeper in the house, awoke to what always sounds like train in our backyard. the wind was blowing pretty hard so i summed it up to the new chairs (another man's trash is another man's treasure) had slid across the patio and slammed into the house. but then the dog began to bark, which is unusual. i sat up looked at the clock and no sooner did i lay my head down on the pillow, a now much harder shakin' came about. then the dog began to bark again. i shushed the dog wandered to each bedroom to see if it awoke any of the kids. this time i made sure to lay some flannel pants, a t-shirt and my robe at the end of the bed, just in case...lol. that is my biggest fear, having to run outside and getting caught literally in your, well, uhm, undies!!
once morning came dan got on the internet to see where all the activity was. much to our amazement, it was right under us, LITERALLY! not even a mile away. we knew we lived on a fault but not right on top of it. as we were reading i noticed someone had commented on the time...the light in my head came on and i realized that we were now running one hour behind due to the time change we had no idea happened! oh my, what a morning.
this day began like all others. all the lights on in the loft, doors opening and shutting, blow dryers blaring and girls talking. i kinda pulled the pillow over my head to avoid being completely woken up by the lights. the dog started to whine, and then 'boom' here comes that train again! funny how i can always HEAR it before it hits. maybe i have dog ears? i shush the dog again and everything continues as normal. but then tucker never gives up. you can hear him moving around out there whining and he seemed agitated. i drag myself out of bed to take him potty because any dog who whimpers at 5:00am needs to go out right? WRONG. maybe the earthquake got him all uptight? WRONG. i go to unleash him and he's not even on the couch, i totally tried to unleash a clean pile of laundry! ok, so who's vision is at it's best at 5:00am???? this crazy dog is under the sofa. why in the world is he there? is he practicing 'duck and cover?' then out of the corner of my eye i see this little white spot...and the dog is now at full attention trying to tell me something. i turn on the light and what do you know..to my surprise, there was krystina's hamster!! oh my, i love animals and all but i'm not going to pick up that squirmy little thing. poor dan, i was trying to let him sleep in today and do seminary duty but he had to get up and wrangle this little creature before the dog decided to eat it!

*ATTENTION SHOPPERS*
if, and i mean a serious if, you decide to ever get a hamster for your kids, don't purchase these types of cages! they are NOT hamster proof. do you remember the older days, where products were made to last?? these aren't that type of product. the only metal part is the wire bars around the cage. other than that, its all plastic. now, they look really nice and colorful but don't let that deceive you! lol. mr. landen decided to open up his top latch and climb out to find some fun. oh and the princess....well let me tell you about her. she actually popped her wheel out of place in order to escape. this all took place on saturday-after many long hours of searching, lyndsie decided to leave the cage door open in case miss royalty decided she was hungry (no silver platters here babe). when lyndsie went up to go to bed, she announced that the queen had put herself away!
stay tuned for more!

this sounds like a very entertaining morning. you forgot to say how big the earthquake was. i have to say, i don't miss wondering when the next one is going to happen. and i hear it before i feel it too. i love unleashing pile of laundry. hahahha!
Ok, so I ALWAYS wear PJs for that very reason. I am not going outside all disoriented in G's. So, was there an earthquake? Or was it just the hamster making the noise? I am guessing you did and well I am a little slow. LOL Brenna's teacher recommends aquariums for cages for these animals. We are getting gerbils in two weeks. I totally remember duck and cover drills at school. Hiding under our desks was always fun. :) Glad you are all safe. Love, Christine
I am the only one who woke up for that, and I didn't even feel the second one. You think it's trains, I think it's planes. :)
i am living under a rock.
i had no idea this had even happened!
