It is so strange that we had two celebrations in one month, not even two weeks apart! Easter came entirely too early this year. The kids have been on spring break this week, and it went by too fast! We didn't do too much, which is OK with me, but we did have a fun family week. I bought the kids this cool lighted Frisbee that Kyle busted an outdoor light with (it was funny), we jumped on the trampoline, did some star searching, caught up on ALL LOST EPISODES, had a park day, made home made pizzas (Dans creations rocked), had a movie day and played some video games.

Guess who I caught coloring Easter eggs after much discussion about how she didn't want too!
Silly girl. This is by far one of my favorite spring activities, young or old, I still enjoy watching them create little pieces of color art. Of course, no one ever wants to eat them!

This girl drives me nutty! She is forever making crazy (as in ugly as possible so mom won't take her picture) faces and not letting me photograph her. I was so happy when going back through photos I found this.

Well, what can I say...I wanted Jessica to eat dinner with us so uhm...yeah.
We celebrated Easter on Monday. I really wanted Easter Sunday to be about the Savior and not about candy, eggs or baskets. I'm really amazed at how Easter has now turned into the new 'Christmas'. Why you ask? A lot of people we know shopped for Easter with lists their kids had made to the Easter Bunny about what they wanted. Some of the items were pretty spendy. I was really surprised. If my kids ever handed me a 'list' for Easter I think that would be the last Easter filled with fun. It's kind of sad. I realize not everyone celebrates Easter, or the religious aspect of the holiday, but in my honest opinion its way over the edge. When kids start to expect things that's when one must stop and wonder if maybe they've over done things a tad. I'm grateful for the little things. Happy that my kids appreciate what they get, and not expect more. And if that's not enough, I'm grateful that I personally didn't have to spend days or weeks shopping!
Jessica will be home in about 2 weeks...we are so looking forward to seeing her during her spring break!

i'm so excited for you that jessica is comming home. what a fun treat.
i love all of the colors while dying easter eggs...so pretty. my kids love hard boiled eggs so we never have a problem with them getting eaten. :)
Lyndsie got her braces off! Yay for her! She looks beautiful! Can't believe that whole Easter list thing.
We got the eggs and the dye out and boiled the eggs, and then realized the day after Easter we forgot to color eggs. LOL! Cameron and kids got off to church, so that is what mattered at least. LOL!
I agree with you totally about the gifts for easter deal! My husband is all for it, but I don't get it. This year was great because we ran out of time to think of gifts so we ended up getting the kids their baskets and their own box of junk food cereal! THEY LOVED IT! So I gave Mike that I told you so look...and hopefully this wil be the beginning of some Easter reality in the future.
