Fresh Peaches anyone?
Last week while driving the girls to seminary, I noticed this big truck setting up early in the morning. There was a man putting a sign out, but I couldn't read it. So, on my way home from dropping the girls off at the chapel, I read this big sign..."FRESH COLORADO PEACHES". Oh man, I quickly turned around and headed to the bank for some cash! As I pulled up, I was greeted by the nicest man and his wife...there was a huge bowl of fresh cut up peaches (and we are talking HUGE peaches). They offered me a taste, and I quickly said "I'll take a case"! And I'm so glad I did. These are/were the best peaches I've ever had! Approximately 15 lbs. of fresh Colorado peaches. Sitting on my kitchen counter. Waiting to be eaten!
Dan and I took a trip outside of town to Wal-Mart and stocked up on new canning jars (I gave all of mine away before moving). I spent two days canning peaches. It was hard to NOT eat them before they went into the jars! And I need to give credit to my landlord who so kindly brought me his cooker thingy (the word for it slipped my mind at the moment). He is a farmer, garden grower and sadly was out of town when the peaches came to town so I couldn't get him any. Thanks Kutch!
Two cases later, many eaten fresh peaches and a peach cobbler...I wish I had gotten more, but who knew. I so look forward to other canning experiences in the next year! Over the weekend, I met a sweet kindred spirit aka Millie
(my new friend) has been busy herself canning all kinds of goodness! She's been making crab apple & grape jams! Look forward to visiting her ranch to see her wonderful garden...Hey Millie!!

I need to get the recipe for that crust, cuz it was super tasty. Good talking to you this morning. Sorry I was so distracted with the planning of this trip, I should've called you at a better time. Hope Tucker is ok and no more barfies! Ugh sorry about that. love you
