pumpkin smile
Will forever be gone.
The cute, red-headed, freckly faced boy of mine is following in the metal smile like his Mom, and sister Lyndsie. I had to laugh at just one little thing...when I got my braces on in 7th grade, I had to have a spacer put in, and because of the fact that I sucked my thumb so hard, I raised the roof of my mouth. Consequently, the first meal I ate after so called 'spacer' was put in was a bean burrito. I know my Mom is laughing at the memory of this...with each bite, nothing was going down my throat...so I started this slurping sound, trying to suck out what had gotten stuck up in between the roof of my mouth and my spacer. It took a few days of trying to get a new eating pattern down, not to mention my sore sore teeth. Ouie. Which brings me to the funny...Kyle didn't get a spacer, but he did get a chain (bands) put around his two front teeth to try to get them pulled together quickly. Poor boy. He was in so much pain the whole weekend, and I barely heard 10 words from him. What we heard was him making this weird (SUPER ANNOYING) slurping sound at least every 60 seconds. His teeth were so sore that that's all he could do to keep himself from drooling because of the pain. Did I mention how quiet the weekend was?? LOL. What a trooper he was! Today is day 5 and he is fully recovered, eating, talking, and finally brushing his teeth again.
Pretty assistant cleaning & drying Kyle's teeth (that apparatus thingy didn't look comfortable)
Don't be afraid! Kyle in all his glory...he had all the assistants at his side (they think he's a cutie). And yes, Kyle said I could post this on my blog..he thinks its funny!
How cute. He chose blue & orange bands...Uh yeah, DENVER BRONCOS!
Too stinkin cute. All the girls in the office were oohhing and aahhing over this boy!
Enduring all the pain and the many months of orthodontic treatment, will be so worth it in the end. From the deepest corner of my heart, I look forward to the day when he smile's at me in confidence, not carrying what people say about his smile. Kids really are cruel. This is the last chapter of the great "pumpkin smile". I love you Kyle!
p.s. what do you think of his longer hair?? Oh how we miss our Castro!

WOW! i can't wait to see the finished product! he's gonna be even more handsome. i don't love his hair longer but if he loves it then that's great. :)
Awww! He looks so great! That is funny about the slurping. I remember the day I got my braces on too. You know I still wear my retainer (of course I have gone through several since then). So sorry about all that pain. I remember my family had pizza and I had to eat applesauce. UGH! Anyways, good stuff Erin.
Wow..That's what is so different his hair! It looks cute! Yes, I can related to the "SLURPING" sound..we have been graced with that sound since last March when Ashlyn had her spacer put in..I never though it would end..but..it did, they finally cut it out last week! Happy days and quieter dinners are here again. Hang in there Kyle!
